Apartments Las Clacas

The Canary IslandsLanzarote › Playa Blanca

Two privately owned apartments located in a small residential building on Playa Blanca's seafront promenade, with superb views across the harbour and easy access to local beaches.

Thanks to its lovely position overlooking the straits of Bocayna, and to its very relaxed atmosphere, Playa Blanca is undoubtedly the most appealing of Lanzarote's beach resorts, and for those wishing to enjoy its attractions to the full, there could be no better place to stay than in the original village centre, preferably in one of the attractive apartment buildings right on the seafront. Unfortunately, virtually all these apartments are privately owned, and not available for holiday rentals. We were therefore delighted when one of our local contacts offered us the use of this highly desirable apartment for Cachet Travel guests.

Las Clacas is a pretty building designed in the island's typical style, with whitewashed walls and green-painted woodwork. It is situated directly on the seafront promenade in the very heart of the village, roughly halfway between the harbour and the village beach. The rear of the building backs onto a pedestrianised shopping street, so please note that you will have a short walk with your luggage from your transfer taxi. For those planning to hire a car, the nearest free parking is just under five minutes walk away down by the harbour, but the advantage of this is of course that, in spite of the wonderfully central location, there is no traffic noise at all.

Our apartment is situated on the middle floor and offers spacious accommodation for couples and families alike. Practically furnished, it comprises two twin bedrooms, a full bathroom with a washing machine, a small inner patio for drying clothes, a good- size lounge and a fitted kitchen, complete with full cooker and large fridge-freezer, separated from the lounge by a breakfast bar. Patio doors lead from the lounge to the apartment's pièce-de-resistance - a large, south-facing terrace with uninterrupted views of the harbour and across the ocean to Fuerteventura - what better place could there be to enjoy a leisurely breakfast whilst watching the comings and goings of the local fishing fleet and the ferry boats.

In the evenings, there is no need to do any cooking unless you wish to, for there is an excellent choice of restaurants just the shortest of strolls away. Several well-stocked supermarkets - as well as a few boutiques and gift shops - are also within easy walking distance, and the village beach is less than five minutes' walk away. The two larger beaches Playa Flamingo and Playa Dorada, both of which have sun-loungers and umbrellas to rent, are just a few minutes further, or for a change of scenery you can reach the unspoilt Papagayo beaches by taxi boat, and the amazing sand dunes on Fuerteventura by ferry.

Independent self-catering accommodation in such a central, convenient yet relatively peaceful location is very hard to find in Playa Blanca, so early booking is highly recommended.
