On a gentle hillside just a few hundred metres above the sandy beach of the second bay, the Asteras Studios command a wonderful view across the village to the sea. The twelve studios were built a few years ago and are carefully overseen by Maria, the owner.
Each studio is a good size and simply furnished and decorated. Although the beds are all doubles, a comfortable single mattress is cleverly concealed in the base of each one and there is space in the studio to use it as an extra bed. A fitted wardrobe, a kitchenette with a fridge and a two ring hob, and a tiled shower room complete the accommodation. Each studio is air-conditioned and a small daily charge is made for this locally. Best of all are the sea-facing balconies, thoughtfully constructed to maximise both the views and the privacy of each studio.
Despite the slightly elevated position the incline is not overly taxing and the nearest tavernas and the splendid sandy beach can be reached easily on foot.
From our own experience, it is hard to imagine anything more magical than sitting on your balcony at Asteras as the evening skies darken and the stars emerge. The few lights of the village shimmer below, a boat is silhouetted on the horizon and all is definitely right with the world.
