Casa da Beira is a detached, traditional house set in pretty gardens just off the cobbled street of Ponta Delgada, a pretty village on the scenic north coast between São Vicente and Boaventura. We first offered this charming cottage to Cachet guests in 2001, and it has since proved such a popular choice for those who prefer the type of quiet seaside holiday where natural pursuits take precedence over man-made attractions, that early booking is highly recommended.
The cottage stands at the entrance to the garden and is suitable for up to four people. The lounge is comfortably furnished with a dining table and chairs, a sofa and easy chairs where guests can relax in front of the television. The kitchen is separate, well equipped and has a microwave in addition to a hob. A small corridor leads to two pretty twin bedrooms which share a large shower room. The interiors are very homely, and there are raised terraces on two sides of the house, with lovely views towards the mountains and down to the ocean.
A hire car is automatically included in the cost of your holiday at Casa da Beira, to enable you to explore the spectacular north coast and the rugged interior, and to visit the larger village of São Vicente which is just a short drive west. However, there are a couple of small shops and restaurants within walking distance in the village itself, so you don't always need to drive to go out for a meal.
Guests who have enjoyed staying at Casa da Beira before will be pleased to learn that they may now use the indoor and outdoor swimming pools at the Monte Mar Palace Hotel (10 minutes walk away) by buying a day pass for 5 Euros a day. Alternatively swimmers can now make use of the improved public lido area with its saltwater pool and ocean access. What really makes a stay at Casa da Beira special, however, is the warm-hearted hospitality offered by the property's charming owner, Dona Ferdinanda, who in spite of her limited English always makes guests feel exceptionally welcome.
