Situated in tranquil, largely agricultural surroundings some 750 metres above sea level, this collection of cottage-style apartments offers extremely comfortable accommodation and a range of facilities rarely found in rural self-catering properties in the Canaries. With panoramic views across the Orotava Valley and close proximity to extensive forests and unspoilt countryside, the Finca is particularly recommended for keen walkers and nature lovers. A hire car is automatically included in our holidays at Finca La Tanquera & Las Rosas as the nearest shops and restaurants are a short drive away, but there is also a local bus service that stops just below the property, so it is possible to do some exploring on public transport.
The finca is divided into two sections, set either side of the quiet country road. The original part, La Tanquera, is arranged around a heatable swimming pool and comprises two studios, one apartment with two bedrooms and two bathrooms and one with three bedrooms and three bathrooms. All are comfortably furnished and finished to a high standard, and benefit from safety deposit boxes, satellite TV (with limited English-language channels), radiators and working fireplaces (wood is provided free of charge). The kitchens are fully equipped with hobs, ovens, fridge-freezers, microwaves, kettles and toasters, and hairdryers are provided in the bathrooms, which have either a bath or a shower. Naturally, each apartment also has a terrace. The accommodation at Las Rosas is equipped to the same standard and comprises two apartments with one bedroom and two with two bedrooms.
What makes La Tanquera and Las Rosas such an appealing choice, in addition to the homely comfort of the apartments, is the provision of some communal facilities you would normally only find in a hotel. Bordering the swimming pool area are a covered Jacuzzi (payable locally at €1 per 20 minutes), a small gym area (free of charge) and a sauna (€3 for 1 hour). In addition there is a large shared lounge a short stroll from the apartments with an honesty bar, where you can meet your fellow holidaymakers whilst sampling the local wine, an internet corner (free of charge), a barbecue area and a laundry room. And on clear nights, be sure to make use of the finca's telescope to get a closer look at the night skies!
