Hotel and Apartments Sol La Palma

The Canary IslandsLa Palma › Puerto Naos

This well-established complex is located on La Palma's sunnier west coast and offers both hotel and self-catering accommodation together with a full range of resort facilities.

Situated on La Palma's west coast, Puerto Naos is renowned as one of the sunniest spots on the island, and also boasts one of the best beaches - a wide curve of black volcanic sand backed by an attractively landscaped, palm-tree lined promenade. Standing right beside the sea at the southern end of this appealingly laid-back resort, the Sol La Palma is a modern complex offering both hotel and self-catering accommodation.

The hotel rooms are air-conditioned and have full en-suite bathrooms, as well as balconies with either sea or mountain views. All are equipped with direct-dial telephones, mini-bars, satellite TV, safety deposit boxes and hairdryers. The studios and apartments are situated just behind the hotel and are similarly furnished, but they do not have air-conditioning or hairdryers, and instead of the mini-bars they have a fridge as part of their kitchenette units. Studios sleep up to two adults plus one child, whereas the apartments can accommodate up to three adults plus a child (with twin beds in the bedroom and a sofa-bed in the lounge), and both have either balconies or terraces.

Half board, which consists of extensive buffets for both breakfast and dinner, is automatically included in the hotel rooms, whilst studio and apartment guests can choose between self-catering, bed & breakfast or half board arrangements. There is also a snack bar for lunches and light meals throughout the day. Other communal facilities shared between the hotel and the apartments include two swimming pools (one of which can be heated), each with a pool bar, as well as a children's pool and a playground. During school holidays, the hotel also operates a mini-club for 5-12 year olds.

The actively-minded will find a floodlit tennis court (payable locally), table-tennis, a crazy-golf course and a gym, Spa centre (payable locally), and bicycles can be hired nearby. There is also a daily programme of sporting activities during the day, and low-key entertainment in one of the lounge-bars in the evenings. Along Puerto Naos' seafront, there are a number of cafés, restaurants and shops for your day-to-day needs, and there is a fairly regular bus service to Los Llanos de Aridane, making this a good location for those who do not wish to have to rely on a hire car.

Guided walks and organized excursions can also be arranged from here, and it is possible to walk to a couple of other, quite secluded beaches, including the island's only official naturist beach, which lies in a narrow cove hidden behind banana plantations. Whether you opt for the hotel or the apartments, the Sol La Palma makes a comfortable and convenient base in the sunny west of the island.
