Blessed with a prime location right on the waterfront, just a few minutes' walk eastwards from Kas harbour and the town centre, the Hotel Hera could hardly be more convenient. The impressive neoclassical façade creates a rather grand first impression and for a hotel of just 40 rooms and 6 suites, the reception/lounge is surprisingly spacious, with several comfy sitting areas for chatting to your fellow holidaymakers.
On the first-floor the dining area has panoramic windows along its entire length so that guests can take breakfast whilst enjoying the lovely sea views, although during the summer months both breakfast and dinner are usually served on the second-floor terrace, next to the hotel's enticing swimming pool.
The guestrooms at the Hera are furnished and decorated in calm, neutral shades and amenities include direct-dial telephones, mini-bars, satellite TV, hairdryers and the all-important air-conditioning. Naturally all rooms have en-suite bath or shower rooms and balconies. Cachet Travel guests are normally allocated rooms at the front of the building, with views across the pool to the sea. For special occasions, the top floor suites consist of a double bedroom and separate lounge, and also benefit from a balcony with sea views.
As the views from the pool terrace out to sea are so enchanting, many guests are happy to spend their days relaxing here, but, for those who prefer sea swimming, the Hera also boasts its own "beach club" (just across the street from the hotel), with direct ladder access into the sea. Amply stocked with sun loungers, the rocky terraces of the beach club even boast a couple of traditional Turkish kosks - raised wooden platforms shaded by a reed roof, a perfect spot for snoozing away idle afternoons.
If all that isn't relaxing enough, you can unwind further in the hotel's own Turkish bath, where various massage treatments are available (payable locally). There is also a sauna and - for the more energetic - a small gym. The charming, and authentically Turkish, centre of Kas is just the shortest of strolls away or you can explore further afield using the public dolmus service or one of the organised excursions. Those keener on sea-borne pursuits will find a local diving school and selection of boat trips on offer from the harbour.
