Converted from three Venetian town houses, this small hotel offers elegant accommodation full of historic charm and character in the heart of Rethymnon's atmospheric Old Town.

The Palazzino di Corina is a small and extremely elegant hotel completely in keeping with its situation in the heart of the old town area of Rethymnon. Cleverly converted from three houses built during the Venetian occupation at the height of the Renaissance period, the Palazzino has certainly maintained the feeling of luxury and style, typical of the period, with its collection of antiques and paintings and polished wood and stone fittings, even including one of the original wells.

The hotel's layout is, of necessity, rather quirky and there are just 21 suites, each retaining the important features of the original buildings whilst incorporating the modern conveniences expected by 21st century guests. Most have sumptuous double beds and sleep just two but there are a few larger suites, which can sleep up to four in comfort.

Each suite has an en-suite bathroom with hydro-massage bathtub and hairdryer and naturally all have a mini-bar, safety deposit box, direct dial telephone, internet access point, satellite and pay television as well as a DVD player.

The public areas include a comfortable breakfast room and courtyard with a small heated swimming pool and an antique crammed lobby. Extra services that can be provided are room and laundry service, a babysitting service and even hairdressing, massage, manicure and pedicure.

Right on the doorstep are the appealing restaurants and shops of the old town area and the historical Fortezza. The main bonus, however, is that - although light-years away in spirit - Rethymnon's extensive sandy beaches and all the facilities of a busy modern resort are in reality just a short walk away.

Open all year round, the Palazzino di Corina is one of Rethymnon's most sought after addresses, so early booking is strongly recommended.
