Combining classic Canarian style with contemporary comforts, this charming country house hotel stands in the grounds of a vast banana plantation roughly halfway between the traditional towns of Icod de los Vinos and Garachico.

This delightful country house hotel stands in the grounds of the "Finca Malpais", and thus offers a wonderfully peaceful and scenic location combined with easy access to the charming towns of Icod de los Vinos and Garachico. Converted from a substantial manor house, parts of which date back to the 16th century, the El Patio combines classic Canarian style with contemporary comforts.

The enchanting courtyard which inspired the hotel's name is a natural focal point, with tall palm trees, flowering shrubs and a rather emblematic dragon tree which is believed to be as old as the house itself. From here, a path leads past the hotel's tennis court to an elevated viewpoint from where you can enjoy splendid views along the coast, whilst to the other side of the hotel, you will find a heated freshwater swimming pool surrounded by a sheltered sun terrace.

The hotel's 18 guest rooms are spread across several buildings, so they vary slightly in terms of size, layout and outlook. However, all are comfortably furnished and prettily decorated, with terracotta floor tiles, wooden ceilings and tastefully chosen fabrics lending them a homely charm. Naturally, each room has a modern en suite shower room, and hairdryers, safety deposit boxes and central heating are provided. A few of the rooms are situated in the hotel's annexe, "Patio II", approximately 500 metres from the main building and are priced accordingly.

The hotel's comfortable TV lounge and games room is full of fascinating antiques and family mementoes. Incorporating an honesty bar, the lounge certainly makes a welcoming spot for flicking through some of the books containing local information, chatting to fellow guests or enjoying an aperitif. The hotel's atmospheric restaurant is open two nights a week and serves traditional Canarian fare. A good choice of other dining venues can be found a short drive away in the neighbouring towns on Icod and Garachico.
