Being situated not only directly on Porto Santo's stunning sandy beach, but also just an easy three-minute stroll from the island's main village, Vila Baleira, this attractive, low-rise hotel is perfectly placed for anyone seeking a truly relaxing seaside holiday. The hotel takes its name from an old stone tower - a remnant of a cement factory that once stood here, hard as it may be to believe that in days gone by anyone saw fit to build a factory in such an idyllic spot!
Carefully restored, the tower has been cleverly integrated into the hotel's design and today forms the centrepiece of the spacious open-plan lobby.
With just over 60 rooms, the Torre Praia is large enough to offer a good range of facilities, yet small enough to retain a friendly and very informal atmosphere. Situated just above the beach is a kidney-shaped freshwater swimming pool surrounded by a sun terrace, and the airy restaurant also looks straight out onto the beach and the ocean. For those keen on keeping fit whilst on holiday, there is a fitness centre with an excellent gym, a squash court, a sauna and a jacuzzi on the hotel's lower floor, available to guests at a reduced rate.
Decorated in a contempory style, the rooms are bright and cheerful and each has a balcony or terrace, most of which have a side sea view. All are equipped with air-conditioning, cable TV, minibar, telephone, safety deposit box and hairdryer.
