This delightful cluster of three restored cottages (plus a newly built wooden cottage) is set in unspoilt countryside and boasts many personal touches, as well as a small swimming pool.

Set amidst wonderfully verdant and gloriously unspoilt countryside, Las Breveritas is a delightful cluster of three lovingly restored cottages and a newly-built addition, perfect for walkers, nature-lovers and romantic couples simply wishing to escape the pressures of modern-day life for a week or two. Nestling against the hillside approximately 8 km from the town of Icod de los Vinos, Las Breveritas affords lovely views down to the ocean and up to Mount Teide on clear days, especially from the heatable swimming pool which the three cottages share.

Dating from the mid-19th century, the three original cottages are full of traditional character and individual charm. Although quite compact, they offer very comfortable accommodation, and plenty of thought went into the décor and furnishings. The smallest cottage, "Los Perros", is a studio with a large double bed, a sitting area, an open plan kitchen and a bathroom. "Los Pajeros" has a lounge with open plan kitchen and a separate twin bedroom, whilst the largest cottage, "La Bodega" is arranged on two floors, with a kitchen and dining room on the lower level, and a double bedroom and bathroom on the floor above. Set slightly apart, "Casa El Almendro" was constructed recently from wood, and has a living room with open plan kitchen and shower room at ground level, and spiral stairs leading to an open mezzanine with a double bed.

All the kitchens are equipped with ceramic hobs, fridges, microwave ovens, toasters, percolators and electric kettles, and the bathrooms have bathtubs with hydro-massage jets (except El Almendro - shower only), hairdryers and bathrobes. Each cottage also has a rather private terrace with teak furniture and a barbecue, and other amenities provided include central heating, satellite TV and safety deposit boxes. Another thoughtful touch is that the owners deliver fresh bread to each cottage every morning, so there is no need to venture out before breakfast.

During the warmer months, the temptation to just spend all ones time in this idyllic setting may be hard to resist, but it would be a shame not to explore the surrounding area, Isla Baja, which boasts some of Tenerife's most charming towns and most unspoilt landscapes. Just a few minutes on foot from the property is the spectacular "Cueva del Viento-Sobrado", one of Europe's largest lava caves, which was recently opened for visitors (by prior arrangement, guided tours available). Icod de los Vinos is just a 10-minute drive away and is famed for its millennial dragon tree, whilst the picturesque harbour of San Marcos and the historic town of Garachico lie just a little further. Between them, these towns offer a good selection of restaurants and shops, but there are also a couple of charmingly unpretentious local eateries within a 10-15 minute walk from the cottages, so you can enjoy the odd evening meal in authentic surroundings without necessarily having to drive.
