Paradise Beach Studios & Apartments

Chios, Samos, Ikaria and FourniSamos › Klima

A small block of studios and apartments idyllically situated on a sheltered unspoilt bay, offering a friendly welcome and a popular taverna on site.

A glorious setting on an unspoilt bay, delicious home cooking and a generous dose of traditional hospitality are the key attributes that combine to make this the archetypal Greek island escape. Situated close to the island's south-eastern tip, where the distance to the Turkish mainland is at its narrowest, the bay of Klima is wonderfully sheltered, with crystalline waters that are as calm as the proverbial millpond. And being at the very end of the small peninsula road that leads here, Klima really feels like the Greece of 30 years ago, with just a couple of tavernas and a handful of summer houses clustered around the beach - the perfect spot for un unashamedly lazy, low-key seaside holiday.

Paradise Beach is a real family concern, presided over by Michalis, a charming young man and his girlfriend, who are usually on hand to make sure their guests are well looked after. Michalis' mother creates authentic Greek dishes to be enjoyed in the charming taverna right on the water's edge, and other relatives also help out, leading to a very friendly and personal atmosphere.

Set back slightly from the taverna, the accommodation building comprises four studios and four apartments with a separate bedroom. Suitable for 2 people, the studios are located on the upper floor, so their south-facing balconies have particularly appealing sea views. As you enter, there is a shower room on one side and an open plan kitchenette, with a fridge, a two-ring hob and a mini-oven, on the other. The main studio room has twin beds, a TV set (local channels only) and air- conditioning, as well as french doors leading onto the balcony. The apartments are similar but have a separate bedroom, plus a sofa-bed in the main room, and have ground-level terraces facing south towards the sea.

Whilst those wishing to tour the island will need their own transport, those simply planning to relax, swim and eat well do not require a hire car. In fact, with sunloungers provided on the beach right in front of the accommodation, and good food available on site, many guests seem to rarely venture more than a few metres from their apartment! Apart from the two tavernas in Klima itself, the closest alternative is a 15-minute walk away in the neighbouring bay of Posidonio, where you will also find the nearest mini-market for basic provisions. Alternatively, Michalis' mother runs a mini-market in the inland village of Palekastro, and the family will happily deliver any groceries ordered for Paradise Beach guests.
