St Nicolas Bay Hotel

CreteThe Lassithi Region & Mirabello Gulf › Agios Nikolaos

Set on a headland on the edge of Agios Nikolaos, this highly rated hotel offers elegant accommodation in low-rise seafront rooms and suites, some of which have their own individual pools.

If you crave the comfort and elegance of a deluxe hotel set on its own beach in a beautiful corner of Crete, with the added bonus of a very personal service, look no further. What sets the St Nicolas Bay apart from others in its category is the informal yet attentive atmosphere. From the moment you check-in at the cool and spacious reception area the hotel provides everything you could possibly want.

Stone paths meander past the lawns and flowerbeds towards the various low-rise buildings and the facilities include an outdoor seawater pool, a children's pool, a freshwater indoor pool (open in early season only), a fully equipped health club and gym. There are no large cavernous public rooms as the hotel is divided into small areas with several air-conditioned restaurants and bars in addition to a beachside restaurant and seaside kafenion-style restaurant (some of the options may not be open in low season). There are two pleasant lounges and TV, card and games rooms as well as a boutique, news-stand and art and jewellery gallery

By the sea, sunbathing areas have been sculptured out of the rocks and a small beach has been created for smooth access into the sea. Those wishing to idle away their days by the sea can order refreshing drinks from the pool bar or the more active can make full use of the small watersports school with instruction available in all manner of activities including Scuba Diving. The hotel also now has its own water taxi that can be hired for trips into Agios Nikolaos and although a little more expensive than a conventional taxi the more scenic journey certainly makes it worthwhile.

Although there are only just over 120 rooms and suites the hotel offers a full range of accommodation from comfortable sea-facing rooms to truly luxurious suites with their own private pools. Even the standard rooms have terraces or balconies, marble bathrooms with separate WC, hairdryers, minibars, direct dial telephones, remote control television with 15 channels and in house video, safety deposit boxes and independent air conditioning. The more luxurious bungalows and suites have a whole host of extras including Jacuzzi bathtub, bathrobes, CD-radio-tape, video players and dedicated fax and ISDN line.
