Villa Kangotan

TurkeyThe Datca and Loryma Peninsulas and Gulf of Gokova › Datca

A wonderfully spacious villas offering the comforts of a real home-from-home, set about 1km from Datca's harbour.

Whilst villas with private swimming pools have in recent years become more readily available in parts of Turkey that are popular with British investors such as Kalkan and Ovacik, they remain hard to find in areas as unspoilt as the lovely Datca peninsula. Belonging to the same family as the nearby Marphe Hotel & Villas, Villa Kangotan stands in an elevated setting in a privileged residential area, just 1 km from Datca's picturesque harbour and even closer to the village centre with its selection of shops, cafés and restaurants. A hire car is therefore not essential for guests who simply wish to relax and enjoy the villa's facilities and immediate environs, perhaps making use of local boat excursions or the dolmus service to Marmaris for the occasional change of scene. However, we also offer preferential car hire rates for guests collecting their car upon arrival in lieu of transfers – an excellent value option for those who prefer to be completely independent.

The villa has been designed as a proper family home rather than just a place for short-term holiday rentals, and as such offers a superior level of comfort and style. The living accommodation is particularly spacious, enabling occupants to socialise or to retreat to a private corner at will. In addition to the large open-plan living-dining room with satellite TV and CD player, there is a cosy, circular sitting area with a fireplace, perfect for card games or just sitting and chatting. A staircase winds its way around this sitting area to an open gallery with a library and access to the roof terrace. Other than this, the accommodation is all on one floor, with three bedrooms (two doubles and one single) contained in another wing. The master bedroom has its own en suite bathroom and a very private walled patio garden, whilst the other two share the second bathroom. A well-equipped kitchen with fridge-freezer, full cooker, dishwasher, toaster and kettle and a utility room with a washing machine, iron and ironing board complete the accommodation. Throughout the property, carefully chosen antiques and colourful Turkish kilims and Asian wall hangings add beguiling accents to the clean white lines of the architecture, a contrast so striking that the house has been featured in several design magazines.

The gardens that surround Villa Kangotan are equally appealing, and include a terrace with panoramic views down to the Bay of Datca and across the sea to the island of Symi, a barbecue area for al fresco meals, a springy lawn for playing or sunbathing, and a decent size swimming pool. As the villa is entirely unique, early booking is highly recommended but it should be noted that the layout and furnishings make it unsuitable for younger children.
