Offering practical and comfortable accommodation for couples and families alike, this detached villa stands in lawned gardens near one of the region's most picturesque villages.

Just around a bend in the lane from Villa Spiridoula, Villa Sevos is one of a pair of neighbouring detached houses sharing the rural setting on the edge of the hillside below the charming village of Maroulas. Sevos has its own lawned garden and small swimming pool, a delightful place to while away the days or enjoy an evening barbecue after a day out on the beach, just a 15 minute drive away.

The villa itself is simply but comfortably furnished and has an open plan living room and kitchenette, equipped with a small cooker, microwave and fridge, and benefits from the modern comforts of air-conditioning and a television. There is a twin bedroom and en suite shower room, complete with a washing machine, on the ground floor and a double bedroom, again with an en suite shower room, on the upper floor.

The upstairs bedroom is air conditioned and has patio doors that open onto a large furnished roof terrace, the perfect spot for surveying the panoramic view across the hills, olive groves and settlements below to the ever changing sea.

Maroulas, just a short walk up the hill, has its own popular little taverna in the square and its maze of narrow lanes enclosed by old stone houses, in varying states of repair, are endlessly fascinating to wander. Despite the influx of a limited number of tourists life there does continue as it always has and on a recent visit to the village kafeneon we stumbled across a group of the village men debating the breeding potential of a rabbit that one of them had deposited on the table. If however the attractions of a modern day resort are more to your taste, Rethymnon with its water sports, beaches, shops and waterside restaurants is just a 20-minute drive away.
