Just a short stroll from the shores of Lake Furnas and set on a huge estate
encompassing forested peaks and parkland for as far as the eye can see, the
newly created Apartments Lagoa das Furnas are a striking addition to the
landscape. When the owners of the estate holidayed in Scandinavia they
were so impressed with the design of the traditional log cabins that they
decided that they would fit in well with the Azorean landscape and decided to
recreate them on their own property.
The two single storey wooden terraces of apartments are a fascinating blend
of traditional design and modern technology and their clean lines are echoed
by the uncluttered and stylish interiors. There is a choice of either one or two
bedroom apartments and each has a well equipped, compact kitchenette,
modern bathroom and comfy living room complete with a cable television and
heating for the cooler months.
In the grounds near the cabins a circular swimming pool is ideal for an
invigorating dip or just relaxing around and surveying the majestic landscape
after a hard days exploring or walking. A range of other activities such as
mountain biking, canoeing, trekking, horse riding and even a round of golf
can all be arranged by the friendly owners.
In the evenings a barbecue or alfresco meal in the unpolluted air is the ideal way to round off an active day.
For nature lovers and those who enjoy outdoor pursuits it would be difficult to
discover a more unspoilt spot.
