Attractive studios in the heart of Puerto de la Cruz, just a short stroll from the old town and the seawater swimming pools

Situated in a pedestrian shopping street in the very centre of Puerto de la Cruz, the pretty Astoria is perfect for independent-minded travellers who wish to enjoy the many attractions of this charming town, but who do not wish to stay in a large hotel. It takes just three minutes on foot to reach the attractive seafront promenade near the little chapel of San Telmo, and from there it is just a five-minute stroll in one direction to the splendid Lido Martianez seawater swimming pool complex, and in the other direction to Puerto's picturesque historic centre and the small fishing harbour. The volcanic beaches of Playa Martianez and Playa Jardín are approximately 15 and 20 minutes' walk away respectively, and there is a very wide choice of shops, bars and restaurants in the immediate vicinity.

Although only built in 2000, the Astoria's lovely façade gives off an air of Parisian chic which is more reminiscent of the turn of the previous century. The same theme continues through to the entrance hall with its sweeping staircase, stylish furnishings and handsome marble floors. There are just 30 studios, which are comfortably furnished and prettily decorated in bright pastel shades. Each has twin beds, a sitting area, a kitchenette unit with fridge, microwave and coffeemaker and a modern en suite bathroom. Other amenities include satellite TV, direct-dial telephones, safety deposit boxes and ceiling fans. Each studio also has double-glazed full-length windows opening onto a narrow French balcony overlooking the pedestrian street.

To the rear, the Astoria adjoins its sister-Aparthotel, the Bambi, with which it shares a number of facilities, including its reception and the restaurant, where an optional buffet breakfast is laid on every morning. There is also a small swimming pool and sun terrace in a courtyard between the two hotels.

Its location makes the Astoria ideal for those who enjoy exploring the town on foot and making use of the public bus network, taxis or organised excursions in order to explore further afield. Those who prefer hiring a car should however note that parking in the area around the Astoria is extremely limited, with the exception of a couple of municipal car parks where charges apply.
