Casa Pedro

The Canary IslandsTenerife › Icod de los Vinos

Divided into two family-sized apartments and a detached studio, this peacefully situated property has been furnished and decorated to a high standard.

Situated just above the coast between the small town of Icod de los Vinos and its nearest beach, Playa de San Marcos, Casa Pedro is a very smart, recently-built house offering extremely well-furnished self-catering accommodation. Casa Pedro's owners built the property as their own family home, and therefore didn't cut any corners, but they have chosen to remain in the centre of Icod whilst their children still attend the local school. They have therefore decided to rent their house to discerning holidaymakers in the meantime, until they are able to move out here and enjoy the tranquil setting and lovely views themselves.

As the house is much larger than most travellers require, they have divided it into two self-contained apartments, each with two bedrooms. The standard of finish is excellent throughout, with everything from the mosaic tiles in the bathrooms and the wardrobe doors to the modern kitchen units and the traditional Canarian-style windows being of the highest quality.

The front-facing apartment is particularly spacious, with a rather luxurious lounge, a separate kitchen with full cooker, microwave and fridge-freezer, and two bedrooms (one double, one twin), each with its own splendid shower room. The large terrace is partially shaded and enjoys views over banana plants and avocado trees towards the sea. The rear apartment enjoys views across the countryside towards Icod and the imposing mountains beyond from its equally large, south-facing terrace. Inside, its lounge is a little less grand, and the kitchen is open-plan and does not have an oven. Its two bedrooms share one large bathroom, which does have the advantage of a bathtub.

In addition, there is also a detached studio cottage with a double bed for a couple. Situated just below the main house, the studio is quite compact inside, but equally well appointed, with a modern open-plan kitchen with four-ring hob and fridge-freezer, and a decent shower room.

Standing within a large garden in a quiet residential area, Casa Pedro is just over 1 km from Playa de San Marcos, a sheltered volcanic beach popular with locals from Icod. Although San Marcos is not a resort as such (there are no hotels here, just a few private apartment blocks), there are a number of restaurants which can be reached on foot from Casa Pedro in around 15 minutes, although the return is uphill. The centre of Icod de los Vinos - renowned for its 1000-year old dragon tree and for its wine - is approximately 3 km away, whilst Garachico – arguably the prettiest coastal town on Tenerife – can be reached by car in around 10 minutes.
