Peacefully situated on a hillside below the small town of Guia de Isora, Finca Las Dulces comprises two semi-detached cottages which were expertly restored a few years ago to provide comfortable holiday accommodation full of old-world charm in a delightful rural setting. The two houses stand in the grounds of a 17-acre farming estate, where bananas, potatoes, tomatoes, corn and other vegetables are still cultivated. The views from the finca are splendid, taking in a huge chunk of the west coast, as well as the neighbouring islands of La Palma and La Gomera on clear days.
Converted from former stables and farm workers' accommodation, the two houses now offer a much greater level of comfort, whilst still retaining plenty of rustic country charm. Stone-flagged or terracotta-tiled floors, wooden ceilings, traditional Canarian windows and whitewashed walls with patches of exposed natural stone provide the framework within which well chosen furnishings and fabrics create a real home from home. Each house has two twin bedrooms, two bathrooms (both with bath in "La Cuadra"; one with bath and one with shower in "Los Medianeros"), a comfy sitting room and a kitchen with fridge-freezer, ceramic hob, oven, toaster and coffeemaker. Please note that one of the bedrooms in "Los Medianeros" is accessed externally via the terrace.
A large, partially shaded terrace is shared between the two houses, as is the external utility room with a washing machine. From the main terrace, steps lead down to a lower terrace where the owners have recently built an enticing, kidney-shaped swimming pool, which can be heated if required. Sunloungers are provided for those occasions when all you want to do is relax at base, enjoy the sunshine and contemplate the panoramic views, and there is also a communal barbecue area with patio furniture for dining al fresco.
The little town of Guia de Isora is just under 3 km away and boasts a few typical local bars and restaurants, a bank, a supermarket and a pharmacy, whilst the coast is just 5 km in the opposite direction. The nearest cove for swimming is at Alcalá, and the relaxed resorts of Playa de la Arena and Los Gigantes - famed for its imposing sea cliffs - are just a little further, as is the fishing village of Playa de San Juan.
Those who enjoy walking can head south to the barrancos (ravines) of Erques and Infierno, east to the Cañadas del Teide National Park or north to the rugged Teno massif, whilst those who fancy the occasional change of pace will find the lively beach resort of Costa Adeje/Playa de las Americas half-an-hour's drive away. However, we believe that Finca las Dulces is best suited to those seeking rest and relaxation in a sunny location, yet well away from the crowds of the busy southern resorts.
