Set just outside the picturesque vilage of Maroulas, this spacious family villa is within walking distance of the nearest taverna, and just a 3-km drive from the sandy beach of Platanes.

Maroulas is quite justifiably one of the most photographed of the old hill villages in the countryside south of Rethymnon. Just below the village, at the end of an unmade track, Villa Spiridoula sits proudly on the edge of the hillside. From the lawned gardens and the sun terrace that surrounds the small pool there is a magnificent view down the valley to the sea, although where there were once just goats and birds of prey to survey on the surrounding hilltops there are now also a number of other villas enjoying similar views.

On the ground floor of the villa is an open plan living room and kitchenette, equipped with a cooker, microwave and fridge freezer, and patio doors open onto the swimming pool and outdoor dining area. There is also an indoor dining area and a television, ideal for cosy nights in the spring or autumn. Also on the ground floor is a bedroom and a shower room with a washing machine. The narrow staircase leads up to two further bedrooms and another bathroom and a generous upper terrace from where the view is even more amazing.

Despite the rural setting the village is less than ten minutes walk away so evenings out in the excellent taverna can be enjoyed to the full without the necessity of anyone driving home. Beach lovers also don't have far to go as the sandy beach in the small resort of Platanes is just three kilometres away as are the nearest shops. Rethymnon and all its attractions are a mere ten kilometres away so guests at Spiridoula really can have the best of both worlds.
