Situated in the valley of La Palmita, approximately 7 km from the north coast village of Agulo, Finca La Maleza stands in a large plot of land surrounded by woodland and clusters of lemon, fig, pear and plum trees. Standing at an altitude of 700 metres, the house offers a good degree of seclusion, together with access to some excellent terrain for hiking. The Juego de Bolas Visitor Centre on the northern approach to the Garajonnay National Park is less than a mile away and provides information about the fauna, flora, geography and culture of La Gomera, and the nearest local restaurant can be found just opposite the visitor centre. The nearest facilities for shopping, and a few other eating places, can be found in Agulo, whilst the island capital San Sebastian is approximately 30 km away (although the island's mountainous terrain means you should allow around an hour for the journey).
Built entirely from natural stone and wood, the house has been thoroughly renovated to provide rustic but comfortable accommodation whilst retaining its traditional charm. With its exposed stone walls, pitched wooden ceiling and open fireplace, the living room feels very cosy, and has a TV (local channels only) and CD player. The kitchen is equipped with a fridge, ceramic hob, microwave, toaster and kettle, and there is a separate dining area in a conservatory-style sun room. There are two bedrooms, one on the ground floor with twin beds, the other with a double bed is under the eaves and reached from the living room by wooden stairs. A shower room with two washbasins, a WC and a walk-in shower complete the accommodation. As temperatures can be cooler at this altitude during the winter season, electric radiators are provided in the living room and both bedrooms.
